That’s how we greet in Armenia, the country from where I came from. And that’s how I’ve greeted Italy when I landed in Rome. I came here with a lot of motivation, expectation and willingness to create something beautiful and memorable for the people with whom I’m going to spend my time and for the people of Pesaro. Maybe that unforgettable things will be “The pictures from my new community” which is actually the topic of my EVS project.
On the first day of my arrival I met my old friend Francesco, who I know since we meet on a project in Armenia last December. Then I met my two flat-mates Janek and Carlos, other two EVS volunteers who warmly welcomed me and presented the place where we will live together for upcoming six months. I liked our home which is on the top floor of our building.
On the next day we met our fourth EVS volunteer – Milena from Germany. In the evening we went to an interesting festival, where guys from different districts of Pesaro were competing with each other by running and carrying heavy baskets. Well, it was the first time I saw this kind of competition, but for sure I felt the soul of Italian tifosi who were supporting their districts.
On the first working day Daniele, Laura and Caro welcomed me and Milena at Vicolocorto and then we had nice presentation of the organization. On the next day the local volunteer Maggie made a nice city tour around Pesaro, showing us the most important and famous places like the Piazza del Popolo, hospital, Piazzale della Liberta etc. We also found out some places for eating tasty pizza, gelati, drinking coffee etc.
